I am also throwing in as a bonus absolutely free a Singer buttonholer attachment that works with this model of sewing machine. This item is now local pick up only. The shipping details are at the end of the listing. Description This is a model 66 treadle driven Singer sewing machine made ca.1919. It is made in the Japan black (shiny black) color with the "Red Eye" decal set applied. The decals were given the name red eye because of the "red eyes" that surround the word "Singer" on the arm of the sewing machine. It sits in a model # 24 oak cabinet with an embossed wreath and torch ornament on the front panel. The sewing machine works, the treadle mechanism works, there is a brand new leather drive belt that needs to be attached, there are a variety of attachements that came with it The #24 cabinet is rare and hard to find. It was made for use in the drawing room. When not in use the cabinet sits as an attractive cabinet with the sewing machine hidden. When it is time to use it the key locked front panel swings out expsosing the treadle mechanism inside the cabinet, the panel that forms the top of the cabinet folds down and rests on the swung out front panel, the sewing machine then lifts out of the cabinet top. There is a notion compartment on the inside of the front panel which is exposed when it swings out. It locks by key and the key is present. The model #24 cabinet is not common and is very beautiful. They do not come up for auction often on Ebay. Do not let this get away from you- put your bid in today. The Singer 66 was the first sewing machine, in my opinion, that produced a near perfect stitch. When sewing well the 66 will out-sew nearly any modern machine through a huge variety of fabrics from linen to lace, horse blankets to buckram. It is simply near perfect engineering but this came at a price. A Singer 66 was one of the most expensive sewing machines on the market costing several months wages. Most sewers would opt for the smaller twin, the Singer 99, but for those professional sewers who wanted more foot clearance and space the Singer 66 was the queen. Expensive but simply the best. If you want to inspect it in person before purchase then let me know so it can be arranged. It weighs 105 lbs and is large. Shipping costs are prohibitive.
